newer square body fenders with older grille
Has anybody tried using the newer style fenders of the late 80's square body on the early square body but keep the early round headlight grille?
I really like the way the later fenders body line terminates in a smooth taper vs. the early ones curved flare out termination but I really like the early single headlight grille. Both my front fenders need to be replaced so if I can do the swap to the newer fender at the same time that would be great. Thanks for the help. |

Re: newer square body fenders with older grille
the front edge is different so you would have to customize or make your headlight surrounds and grille... better off keeping what you have or doing a nose swap and using the newer front and radiator support setup

Re: newer square body fenders with older grille
I don't care for the rectangular headlight grilles so I will play around with putting some parts together at the pull it yourself junkyard to see how far off they are from fitting.
I have a spare set of old style fenders that are ready to go on the truck as stock replacements so I can experiment with the original parts that are coming off. The front end of the original parts are OK it is just the back end and bottom that are messed up on them. I can get a pair of newer fenders for $22 each used and with the old fenders coming off the truck I will have all I need to make a hybrid set of fenders. I am a highly experienced metal worker and a pretty decent body man so if I have to graft two sets of fenders together to get what I want then that is what I will do. |

Do it! I love unique things that don't stand out. That would be a great mod that most people wouldn't notice.
