97 suburban 2500 drivetrain + my truck

97 suburban 2500 - 454 cid, 10k on a new gm 4l80e. work is gonna auction it off cause it need $2500 in brakes and suspension. the engine has 189k interstate ticks, i put 40k on it myself. it runs like a champ and the tranny is tank. i wanna put it in my truck (454 & th400), and keep everything else how it is. gauges, bench seats, power windows, all that. i want my 85 with a fuelie big block and heavy duty auto over drive. i know i can bolt it in, but what about integration with the factory gauges and all the obd II stuff, is there a bcm linked too it? do i just have to do some pin outs, i want to know before i spend the $1500 on this damn burban. i really hope i can do this and keep my truck stock, except for the drive train...

you'll need a 89-91 burb cluster and fuel tank parts from a 87 truck

Re: 97 suburban 2500 drivetrain + my truck

i have a 91 k5 cluster, it should work? i was gonna build the engine, of course. so i was gonna go with some aeromotive parts for the fuel system, rather than factory. nothing too serious, just some head work, little cam, and some bolt on nothingness. thanks for the reply!

the clusters are the same, then the stock sender and a universal electric fuel pump should be fine

Hey, local guy (kinda). Keep us up on this swap if you get the suburban. Sounds like it will be well worth it.

Re: 97 suburban 2500 drivetrain + my truck

I used a 95 impala ss fuel pump in my burb and 91 model tank be sure to use high pressure fuel hose in between the pump and sender not the tbi hose. I have posted some pinouts on the blazer/suburban side for a 97 7.4 in a thread called tbi to vortec swap ?
