Looks like a great piece! Thanks for the link Jeff. I will tell a buddy about it. How far from you is that?

Re: 73-75 Chevrolet tailgate

Now, can someone help me out with the differences on the tailgates from year to year? My buddy has a 78, (and I have an 86) how does this differ from those years?

I asked how close you were in case someone needs to see if you can check this thing out for them.

Re: 73-75 Chevrolet tailgate

This gate has the extrusions at the top, that go into openings that are on the bed itself. Later gates do not have this. TG hardware (latches and hinges) changed thruought the years, as did the trunions. Without modifying this gate, it is only a direct bolt in for 73-75 I believe.

I had to locate this very same tailgate for mine.

The later tailgates will not secure without issues.

Modifications to a later TailGate would have to be performed in order to achieve any functionality whatsoever.

I tried!

I literally tossed a later gate off of my 73 at speed going over a set of RailRoad Tracks.

It was very dangerous.

Luckily, after being launched about 20 feet up in the air, that nobody was behind me and it was later in the evening and less traffic around.
