Question How tall is a blower?

Hey people,
If you stick a 6-71 on a small block and have two Holley carbs with the standard bug catcher, what part of this setup comes out of the hood on a '73-'87?
I just want to know how high a scoop you need in other words.
Thanks

i'm curious bout this too. but what about a smaller blower like b&m 144 or wiend 142 or something, will those fit under the hood on or trucks? does anyone have any idea of the measurement from say the top of the block where the intake sets to the bottom of the hood?

I have seen several B&M 144s fit completely under the hood of our trucks with no scoop needed. They make them this "short" so Vette buyers will cough up the dough for them.

If you had a 6-71, the only part that would stick up would be the carbs-up...

SWEET! I was thinking of building a forged 383cid for my truck, with a 144 miniblower..but I chose a $1200 355 with a 4 year/45k mile warranty instead (gotta love that warranty)

I'd like to see some pics too. I was thinking of just a high-rise intake and a butterfly scoop that will stick just enough out of the hood to get fresh air... and be seen of course. Cause I may not have a mortgage, but I do have a wife and three young kids. Blower is out of the question!

Navybear,
A tunnel ram is great for looks but.....
They don't wake up until 5000rpm,
makes your car/truck real sluggish and hard to drive.

That island you live on doesn't really have enough roads to get the most out of one either. LOL
Get your buddies to hook your truck up to the catapult!
They will have to guess on the weight but it is a heck of a ride!!

PS: Life insurance payed up?
