Somebody please tell me what this is called!

Hi, I'm trying to get my door lock to work and traced the problem to the wheel being loose/worn in the mechanism.

Can any one tell me what this part is actually called?

Know what vehicles this part is interchangable with?

Or if it can be simply dismantled and repaired or tightened?

Thanks in advance

It's called a door latch assembly. Here's a link.

Not much fixing on those, either find a good used one or replace. The star wheel is supposed to turn on the little axle in the center, but usually the wheel rusts to the little axle pin, then the whole pin and wheel starts to spin in the hole at the end and then it gets pretty sloppy.

hit up a parts store and pick up the tool to remove the inner handles. there is a small wire clip on the back of the window crank and door handle. use the tool and the clip and handle will pop right off.

Re: Somebody please tell me what this is called!

When you put the handle back on just put the clip on and then push handle back in place it's easier than trying to get clip on afterward.

Ivan I just took mine apart not to long ago, there are alot of rods with little c-clips that really test your patience when you put it back together.

Careful when you pop that clip out, cup your hand around it or it could pop out and fly to the moon like mine did!!

Grab a rag, rub it between the handle and the door panel, and it'll pop that clip off FOR FREE!!!
