Red face Worth fixing???

It appears i have a leak around the tranny (muncie). This is a daily driver for me and I only get a small drip or two a day but it still bugs me. I t seems to be leaking around the top of the case maybe and running down the side. Thought I would ask and see what y'all would do bout it if anything.

Re: Worth fixing???

I would fix it if it bothers you. Pulling a muncie is pretty easy, so new seals would be a weekend project. If it doesn't bother you, keep the oil level up and drive it. If you have to add a little from time to time at least you keep fresh oil in it

Re: Worth fixing???

Depends on the truck and you. If it is a show piece, fix it. If not, and you can stand it, leave it. However, it it will keep you up at night, fix it. I've been chasing a trans leak on my Camaro show car for years now and have finally pinpointed it to the cooler lines after replacing the pan, dipstick tube, and vacuum modulator. These small leaks can be tough to locate.

Re: Worth fixing???

Those small tiny leaks are a pain in the rear to determine where they are coming from, me being the perfectionist I am will be getting it fixed right of way. I have gone thru some crap sometimes worrying about insignificant things in the bucket but I want it as good as possible...

Re: Worth fixing???

Like the others said, it depends on how much it bugs you. But if it gets so bad to where you have to keep checking the oild level, then personally I would fix it.

My rear axle and transfer case leak quite a bit during the hot weather, and it seems like a never ending battle for me to fix em since it does bug me. Plus I hate the smell of hypoid oil!
