Any good methods on removing old window tint.
I know about useing a razor blade but that's slow going and I have the two side windows on the top of my Blazer to do.
I also know about the chemicals they have in the parts store specifically for removing tint....do they work though?
Any other technique's that you know work.

If you wet it down with windex and use the razor blade, it should come off fairly easy. Peel off the film, then soak down the window, let set a bit and then start scraping.

Some brands of DIY tint (like LIMOTINT) will come off fairly easy with some rubbing alcohol... work it in around the edges until you have enough loose stuff to get a grip on it. Also some brands will come right off with HOT soapy water.

I've had to remove a few mistakes and some tint that wasn't my doing. you might want to replace the razor with a plastic putty knife (they're almost as cheap but are less likely to gouge the glass), some of the time you may need it to work at an edge.

3M also sells an adhesive/wax/tar remover that should work but it's much more expensive, stinky, and a general pain in the arse to use before trying the soapy water...

1.) Peel off the film.
2.) Soak a rag in acetone or laquer thinner.
3.) Rub the window, thoroughly soaking the residue on the glass.
4.) Be carefull to NOT get the acetone/laquer thinner on painted surfaces. (this is why i suggest pouring the acetone/laquer thinner on a rag as opposed to spray it directly on the glass.)
5.) Scrape residue with razor blade. You may need to re-wet the residue to keep it moist ... if it stays moist, it softens up.
6. Clean glass with vinegar and water ... or Windex, once all residue is removed.
7. Open beer and admire your new glass.

I USE AROSOL 3-M RELEASE AGENT. IT COMES IN A AROSOL CAN FOR ABOUT $12 OR $14 & WILL DO ALL THE WINDOWS IN ABOUT 3 OR 4 TRUCKS, & DOESN'T ATTACK THE PAINT.

(YOU CAN GET IT AT YOUR LOCAL AUTO PAINT STORE THAT CARRIES 3-M PRODUCTS)

I used a hair dryer and it loosens the adhesive. Keep moving the dryer ahead of the area. Don't peel too quickly as it will tear the film. Once I got the fisrt little corner started, it really went quick and easy. TF

I used some soapy water in a spray bottle, wet it all down and peeled up 1 corner. As soon as you have a grip on it, it should peel right off.

I was wondering if the hair dryer would work for this, I used it to take the stickers off the fender.

Spray window down with 409 cleaner, stick black trash bag to it. Put truck in sun, wait until the bag is totally stuck to the tinting, start pulling off while helping it along with a razor blade.

Well I tried Acetone and nail polish remover(close to laquer thinner) and that didn't do much.The hair drier did work but I started cooking my fingers.

What I ended doing was pulling off the top layer 1st.This left a tinted adhesive on the glass.
I squirted some "Goo Gone" on it and along with a good sharp blade and time it came off real well.
Cleaned it up with some Windex and she's as good as new.
