If I ?
flip the rear axle (already done, but scary) install my BBC /T400 and use 3" drop springs (again already done, but hillbilly style by heating the coils-EEK!). Will my 82 SWB 1/2T truck have a nose bleed? (higher in front) I DO plan on drop spindles later.
Forgive my dumbness I am new at PU's 1982 SWB PU my past stuff- http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/dgas56/ Last edited by dgas; 08-07-2009 at 09:01 AM. |

Re: If I ?
i say it would be close, with a 3 in front and 5 in the rear, it might sit higher in the front then the rear

Re: If I ?
I was Thinking /Hoping that w the BBC/T400 it would be a bit down in front, BUT with the battery moved back into the bed. Others parts uneeded + removed for less weight plus an alum radiator. The BBC is a bit lighter than stock as well, it might be closer to a SBC in front axle weight. I suppose that a guy could trim a half coil. But I may well get into alignment isses if any lower. It may anyway.

Re: If I ?
yea, u can always just measure from the ground to the wheel well on both the front and the rear and see how it will sit

Re: If I ?
Problem w my truck is that hillbilly drop. I have no stock base line to measure from. I'll take pictures. You will not believe the rookie job this yutz did. It looks Kool until you actually LOOK at the workmanship.

Re: If I ?
Yeah, put a big block in the front. That's what I did, and it sits pretty level with a 3//5 drop.

Re: If I ?
Oh good lordy those pics are scary!!!
When measuring remember to measure to the body lines, not the wheel well opening. The front openings are something like 1-7/8" TALLER than the rears.

Re: If I ?
Thats the plan including replacing the RE. Hence this post. I wanted to anyway as it is a 10 bolt peg leg and probably warped from the welding. Explains why I got it so cheap ($200, I saw it B4 buying)

Re: If I ?
Holy hack job !!
At least its in good hands now, Look at the pinion angle ahaahaha Im also going to do a 3'' spindle up front with a flip out back, I have the extra helper leaf I took out just in case the front does end up higher, I can put the leaf back in to gain that 3/4'' or so. Im really looking forward to doing a 1.25 brake conversion and the lowering the truck 3/5 !! Good luck and keep us posted.
