A/C Clutch removal
In order to get the compressor off the bracket I have to remove the AC Clutch. I got the nut off the center of the AC Clutch how do I get the rest of it off? Thanks!

if you are just remove the three nut and bolts they run through the body of the unit and pull the whole thing up and out. The bolts have one side of the head ground down so it will slide past the A/C clutch . hope this helps Randy

Re: A/C Clutch removal
UPDATE: I finally got that bugger off. O'Reily Auto Parts had a kit you can barrow. It has a threaded sleeve that screws into the center of the hub that has a ram screw that goes down the center of it. Then the snap ring and the pulley finally comes off. What an itch if you have never done it before. It is easy now that I've done it. Finding the correct tool is the major battle.

Re: A/C Clutch removal
Glad you got it off, I was gunna tell you you'll need an A/C clutch puller. I have one I picked up when I was at carlisle truck Nats last year. It makes the job alot easier.

Re: A/C Clutch removal
upon reassembly make sure the gap is .012 - .015"
how is the clutch face? is it square and flat or kind of wavy? how is the bearing? you may want to check these out before you powder coat a bad clutch. |
