47-54 bench seat

For those of you with AD trucks, what are you using for a bench seat? Trying to decide to have the stock one re-done with foam instead of springs, or do the 88-98 chevy seat route. Pics are always welcomed! I want to have the seat figured our prior to mounting the steering column.

Thanks!

Re: 47-54 bench seat

I'm currently on the hunt for a set from a late 90's / early 00's Dodge Dakota. They're a 40/20/40 split, so you get the comfort of bucket, the space of a bench, an armrest, a foldup storage in the armrest and a pullout drink holder in the bottom. I found a pair at a local wrecking yard for $175 - $200 per, so still working on seeing if I can find em just a little cheaper.

Cheers,
Ted.

That is a great tip. I want a split bench (mainly for the cup holders ).

I'm using a bench out of an Astro van, fits perfectly, but the fold down release is on the passenger side.

Re: 47-54 bench seat

I've read the bench out of a newer Chevy Impala fits nicely.

I saw a truck on the HAMB that had one in it but haven't done it personally.

Re: 47-54 bench seat

Im not sure of the size difference, Im sure you have less room then my 59 but I picked up some second row seats out of a 2007 tahoe. I know that the third row seats are narrower and also have built in shoulder belts.

Re: 47-54 bench seat

40/20/40's are two bucket seats with a fold down centre console that doubles as a mini seat. Personally I like them since the seams and everything make them virtually symmetrical... and I'm all about that. Also the storage in them is great, especially in a truck that doesn't have any but a cardboard glove compartment.

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: 47-54 bench seat

I used 07 Yukon third row seats in mine. They have the belts integrated into the seat, fold 50/50, and center lap belt for third (small) person. Here is a photo of seat like mine but in cloth. My build thread shows the frame I built to allow me to remove them or get to area under the seat. Frame is set up for angle adjustment too since the seats are fixed.
