Cleaning master cylinder and booster

Has anyone successfully cleaned to a restore appearance the master cylinder and booster without taking apart the system? My brake system works great, but with a new engine and alot of shiny new parts, the master cylinder and booster look terrible. I would like to clean the parts without tearing the system apart.

I usually paint the master with a cast iron paint that you can get at Autozone and then paint the booster Krylon semi gloss black. if you want gold or silver cad, Eastwood sells paints for that.

Re: Cleaning master cylinder and booster

Don't buy the eastwood paint it does not hold up. I initially used it on my bb restore due to difficulty finding the cad plated delco moraine booster (bendix units were painted black). The painted boster was a sore spot in the engine compartment until just recently when I replaced the unit with the correct plated unit that I found on ebay ($110) and could not be happier. IMO stay away from the paint (eastwood) unless you are going black.
