go to napa and buy straight 5/16" steel line's and bend to fit. they already have the flare nut's on them and will fit into the fitting's on your trans, and radiator.

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

I actually swapped out a 3 speed for a TH350. I am going to run an aftermarket exteranl trans cooler so it will not hook it up to my radiator. Can I buy the metel lines from NAPA and cut it off where I need it and hook up rubber hoses to the trans cooler?

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

if you need to cut the steel lines use a tubing cutter to cut the length you need then flare the end of the line where you made the cut, that way the hose will not slip off when under pressure.

Can I put barbed fittings on the transmission and run all soft lines to the trans cooler?

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

Jess, I had those soft lines lines clamped down so hard, a gorilla couldn't have budged them. On the way from L.A. to Parker, AZ, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of Summer, both lines blew. There's a reason the factory installed steel lines and I found out the hard way.

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

if you use any hose it has to be oil hose or transmission fluid hose. fuel hose will not hold the pressure and the oil will eat the hose until it falls apart. and what were you doing in parker az. there hasn't been anything there since the 60's. two stop lights and a new walmart.

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

When you go to get the cooler lines and hoses, Demand Transmission cooler hose. Don't let them tell you fuel injection hose will work.

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

No, it wasn't fuel hose. There's a lot of pressure in those lines. A/T fluid everywhere!

Re: 73' th350 trans lines??

yes autozone usually stocks transmission hose. use the steel line from the trans up to the cooler then a couple short hose's , don't let the steel line's rub together because they will wear through and leak also. if they are side by side split a hose and put it on one of the steel line's then strap the lines together so it isn't metal to metal.
