I had a rebuilt q-jet and it kept leaking air near the throttle assembly. I finally got fed up with it and bought a new Edlebrock and have not had any trouble since. Thanks to California smog, it was around $500. I also put a glass fuel filter inline so I can see any water or crap that might build up.

Q-jet is the way to go for driveability. If yo like to tune your carb every other day go with a holley.
I prefer a quadrajunk.... i mean jet!

Even if you see the crud by then it wouldnt matter its in the carb. I just dont want to see a post about how the glass broke and set fire under the hood. If your worried about crud put a filter coming from the tank to the fuel pump and then the on from the fuel pump to the carb.

i don't know hy anyone would want to get rid of a 750 or 800 cfm quadrajet for a 650 holley or 600 edelbrock. edelbrock screwed up the carter design and have put out crappy carbs. carters are almsot as reliable as qjets. i have an edelbrock that i'm switching for a tuned qjet.
