task force radiator..

Im going to need a radiator soon my 59 and right now i have all the sheet metal off but was wondering how wide of a radiator can I use without cutting into stuff. Im looking at a 02 camaro with dual fans and it looks wider then what i think will fit.

Measurments or guestiments are welcome

Re: task force radiator..

unless you modify the core support to allow more air flow to the wider radiator, a wider radiator wont do too much for you, even with e-fans, the air has to flow through the rad, and it cant be blocked, unless you have a crazy motor in her, a stock rad will do fine, i put a 4 row 55 car rad in my 55 2nd series, the car rad is a few inches shorter and it looks better IMHO. I think the stock width is as wide as you can go without modifying the core support.

Re: task force radiator..

Big truck radiators are 1" thicker and 1.5-2" wider and bolt in the stock location. I ran a stock 6 cylinder radiator with my 283/th350/ 4wd set up and never had over heating problems with that. I got the big truck radiator for free because of the larger engine and I am adding AC. Here is a photo of the big radiator trial fit. The shroud was mounted about 1.5" high in this photo. I fabbed a closure piece for each side and used the factory clips to mount it.
