Power Steering Pump mounting/bracket problems

On my '71 Jimmy's 350, trying to swap out the power steering pump

Problem is the new pump & reservoir from autozone has different location for low pressure side pipe out than the old pump, so the new pump's pipe rests on the engine block making install/adjustment impossible. I've looked at a couple of different part houses and the center location of pipe out on the replacement pump seems standard.

Does it make more sense to hunt down original brackets for the (assuming) correct replacement pump?

Or

Try to find a replacement pump with same pipe exit location as the old one?

Looking at the spacers that were used on bracket bolts, I'm assuming the pump pulley and/or bracket are not original to the vehicle.

I already purchased a generic replacement pulley as the old one would not come off the old pump.

If brackets are the way to go, who sells them?

Re: Power Steering Pump mounting/bracket problems

I would look at all pumps Autozone has and find one that has the correct location of the fittings at the back. Or, buy just the pump without resevoir and reuse your old resevoir. Any machine shop can swap out the resevoir and pulley for you. That's what I did.
