Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

I went out in my buddy's '63 drop top Lincoln. There were more 67-72's for sale than ANYTHING else out there! TONS of 'em! There was a guy selling a really decent looking '69 Big block camper special, appeared to be loaded for $5900 OBO... Probably could have picked it up for $5K and it didn't need much! There were the usual plethora of short/fleet's going for a billion dollars... But whatever... Anyway, great turnout.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

Yea, I went out there on a quest to find some little parts I am in need of.

I did see a lot of Chevy trucks out there as well, as for the parts it was really dissapointing for me. I met Jenn & Jeremiah of Kings trucks, which was a nice way to end my day out there. They did have many of the little things I was looking for to!

I tell ya, if you are into Impala's, and Nova's that is the place to find parts for them! Geeze I got sick of seein so many piles of parts for them!

I saw this ol' burb that caught my eye.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

That is a nice 'burb! I missed that one.

And about the Impalas and Nova's, if you're looking to "lowride" your ride, or buy one, that is the place to be... I've still got the Lowrider Records Top 40 classics going through my head...

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

Have not been there in a few years, but seems like car/truck sellers at Pomona are unrealistic in their asking prices. Are they firm on their prices or do they know they are asking too much and will have to come down a lot to actually sell? Just wondering.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

I've seen more deals lately, the dreamers are still out there but I saw a few really decent deals with no takers.

I think this is the first time I ever didn't buy anything at all there.

And the weather was pretty nice too.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

I agree with Fleetside Paul. The dreamers will ALWAYS use Pomona as their turf to show just how far in the clouds their heads really are. There was a guy with a '70 or '71 Boss 302 Mustang. Ok, nice car, greaet resto job... But $65,000??? I could think of 100 cars that I'd rather buy for the money!

However, I did see one pretty good deal: I think it was a '71 3/4 ton Chevy, camper special, A/C, P/S, P/B, 396, TH400 in decent shape. He was asking $5900 OBO. I would have bought it for $5K if I was looking for it.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

You have to be careful or the security guard driving a NEW JAGUAR will come around and hassle you!! (I didn't see him this time, but he was there a couple other times). I'm guessing he's a super genius on the side, which is why he moonlights as a SECURITY GUARD!!

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

It cracks me up how the flyer says no bottles or cans are allowed in the Fairplex, but you cant walk 3 feet without seeing somebody carrying one, or EZ up's with piles of beer cans stacked up around them.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

I think that the no bottles n' cans thing applies only to spectators? Since the vendors/junk sellers bring in the beer and BBQ, in the back of their trucks then walk around with it.

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

I was going to buy a pulley one time....the dude wanted $150 for it (outrageous). I told him nevermind. He said "Oh well, there's a million other people here"

I said, "Yup, look at all of them walking around empty-handed. That should tell you something"

Re: Anybody go to Pomona last weekend?

Yeah, there are some die hard crack smokers out there. I used to hunt through the junk in hope of finding that one small pot o' gold that I was looking for. I haven't found anything worthwhile in the junk for years. I just go if I'm selling a vehicle, if I know of a vendor selling NEW parts that I need, or if I just need to get the latest Lowerider Oldies Chrome Series CD package!!
