Need some input on control arms. . - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

So heres how the story goes. .

I got myself a 67, stock floor body drop, full frame from the front clip back with one hell of a Z. all i need to finish up the front is a set of control arms. Im Leaning towards ART but ive heard the bushings tend to wear and crack kinda quick so ive been researching some other options but im still not sure what application to go with. Im going with at least a 22inch wheel with 3 inch drop spindles so stock arms are out of the question. Lemme know what you guys think or if you have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!!

I'm curious where you heard the "bushings tend to wear and crack kinda quick"? ART arms use OE rubber bushings or aftermarket poly bushings. The rubber bushings in my 74 were in service for 28yrs before getting replaced....

Porterbuilt arms would be my first choice, ART second, & SD third.

I've had a set on my truck that were from ART's first production run. I am unaware of any cracks, and I don't believe the bushings are worn.

I am curious why SD is the third choice. I bought some and after seeing a set. I thought they were very well built and they were a good bit cheaper than ART. I am new to these types of suspension parts so any info would be appreciated.

We've used the ART arms for several years with good success, and never had any issues with the bushings wearing excessively. We have since began building our own arms. The main difference between our arms and the others, are the machined Delrin bushings we use. I decided to use delrin for a few reasons: less deflection than rubber impregnated or polyurethane bushings; self-lubricating (don't get the squeak noise); simple and easy installation (no press required to assemble or disassemble).

awsome thanks for the input guys, im leaning towards porterbuilt now forsure, they only come in raw finish correct? and bolt directly to a stock crossmember if im not mistaken?

They come raw and unassembled, or powdercoated and fully assembled (for an additional charge). They are designed to bolt up to my Dropmember, or to a factory crossmember by using a 73-87 lower control arm shaft. Here's some pics of the Delrin bushings (the bushings are stepped, because I designed the lower arms to be compatible with the 73-87 factory style bushings):

i can't say how the others are but i can tell you about Nathan at porter built He has been great to work with, and is always willing to help! I have a set of his arms and i really like them so far.
