Gauge Cluster Issue & Radio Issue
HELP! I recently restored my 67 Chevy (can be seen on here). I'm having issues with my instrument gauges though. My tach won't go above 1500rpm, no matter what and my speedometer gauge bounces around. For instance, if I'm going 60, it doesn't stay on 60, it bounces around 60, up and down. Anyone else have any issues like this??
Also, I'm wanting to put in a new radio (there is not one in there now) I don't see a red power cable for any radio and know these can be bought for like $8. If I buy one, how the heck do I hook it up and is that really all I need to install a newer type radio, like the USA model?? And where would I install speakers for a stock look, but good sound? All help is greatly appreciated! |

Re: Gauge Cluster Issue & Radio Issue
I don't have a tach problem , but every speedometer I have had in these trucks somewhat "bounce" around. They are not like the newer style speedometers in the new vehicles, so that is to be expected.

Re: Gauge Cluster Issue & Radio Issue
pull the speedo cable out of it's housing and clean it with some brake clean and a rag, then shoot som in the housing. Let it air dry or use a blow gun if you have air tools. Then lube the cable with some oil... heck, motor oil will do fine. No need to soak it or fill the housing, just lubricate it.
Your tach is probablt junk. 99% odds of it. Tiy can remove it and see if there is something holding it back by moving it with your finger. No need to buy any kit or anything for the radio, just get a decent size wire, put a femail spaid on one end and plig it into the radio terminal on the fuse block, then hook the other end to the radio |
