Re: FRANKENTRUCK stereo phase I

Yo! No "progress log", but I'll keep posting pics here.
The paper templates are easy to make, and necessary, since I found my two cab corners to be slightly asymetrical.
I cut the face of each panel first, cut the speaker holes, then created the second paper templates of the rounded tops while test fitting the faces. Wood blocks glued and screwed (countersunk heads) top and bottom, and then I attached the rounded tops,...again, with countersunk screws and glue. Lots of test fitting and rasping the edges to a taper.
Spray adhesive for the fabric (panel face first, let dry, and then carefully wrapping the fabric over the tapered edges onto the back.
Brackets are just scrap (test fitting and foil templates make bending easier). With the bench seat fully forward, I was able to drill the two mounting holes in the single layered sheet steel that wraps around the upper and lower portions of the cab corners (do not drill into the truck body).
I'll mount the panels first and then install the speakers. Then I go to "phase II",...the dash. More coming.
Todd.

YO! todd..
check my build thread to see how i repaired my dashboard..
you cant see the cracks anywhere!..
and then to make things even prettier i cut out all ther "perforations" for speaker holes and bent speaker grills in to match the hole...
gained 1/2in clearance for my 3 ways..and the dash pad looks new! all for 15 bucks...

Been busy, have ya!
God, I remember that stage,...disassembled!
The truck looks great, as does the nice work on the dash! Mine cost me significantly more,...an amount I'm trying to forget!
I'll keep checkin' your thread. Very nice!
Gotta get me one of those lil' bros to help me! Working by myself, everything takes so long!!
FRANKENTRUCKs phase I is complete,...back in a moment with a last set of pics,...
Todd.

Yo! Here's pics of phase I completion. The panels installed with wires and foam:

And with speakers installed. Damn things tucked so well into the corners, that it's hard to get a good shot,...might have to try again in the AM with more ambient light:

Can't wait to hear them! Phase II starts tomorrow!
Sure hope these pics and my description will give anyone who wants to build their own enough info.
Todd.

Yo! dammitmitchell!
Sure looks like you guys are making fantastic progress, despite!
Yeah, I got one of those kinda little bros,...he's cool, but used to come to my house to change his oil, just in case he got lost! And that was BEFORE he became a doctor!!
Todd.
