Drop shocks

Where is a good place to buy cheaper drop shocks?
For a 3" drop in the front?

Re: Drop shocks

Can't answer your question....haven't compared prices. But, here's a way that may enable you to get 'em locally w/o spending a bunch.

Get a copy of a paper shock catalog. Do you have a friend at a parts house? If you don't, cultivate that process.

Then, look at the specs of your stock-length shock. Check out the type of ends, according to the catalog, for both the top and bottom. Check out the overall lengths....extended and compressed.

Now, take that info and turn to the back pages and there will be listings of shocks that have the same top and bottom mountings as your stock shock

Then, look at the lengths and see if there is one that has the lenght you need. Note the part number for whatever brand that catalog is for.

You should now be able to cross-over that info to any other shock that is available in that size with those same ends. Pick out the cheapes one and you are "there".

This is the method I used to find 4-inch shorter rear shocks for my '96. Turns out the shock I wanted is sold to fit a '98 Tahoe. Even though the suspensions are different, the mounts were the same and the length was what I needed.

Re: Drop shocks

This is the shock I got (the numbers match) with ART bags. Bags go a lot lower than 3".
