New addition to the family

She's been here (home) about a week now and I thought it would be time to introduce her to everyone.

She is going to be my wifes project I don't think that it would be a build for this forum though.

The week before last I put an add on craigslist for my rear fenders and running boards, I'm not gonna tell you how much, I also stated that I would trade for a truck cab any make pre '54. So I got an e-mail from a guy 2 hours away from me saying the he had a cab that he would trade. I think that he just wanted to get rid of it, but we both got a good deal.

I called him up and talked with him for a bit. I thought about it and talked with my wife about it for a little bit, called him back and made plans for the trade.

Last weekend I went to pick it up. On my way through a small town an older fella pulled up next to me and asked what I had in the back of my truck. I told him and he started saying something, I couldn't hear him over his diesel, so we pulled over to a parking lot and started b/sing about trucks. Turned out that he builds "show quality" AD trucks. He had a '46 seat frame in the back of his truck that he gave me because he had no more use for it. (it is in great condition) Since i was in a bit of a hurry I got his number and stoped by his shop on the way back. He knows alot about these trucks, and he's a retired Master Chief. Beer and cussing, my kinda people.

Any way, I know that you guys want to know what it is that I brought home.
Ok so here is what I got.

It's a '55 first series. Real solid cab, normal rust in rear cab corners, that's about it, and he had the windshield for it.

i think that is funny how the cab is covered in rust on the outside like mine but along the hood mounts and inside of the door theres that pretty blue from years ago still there! haha looks like a solid cab to work with!

Re: New addition to the family

I think that someone tried to restore it before then someone else did it again and gave up. Though I think that the blue is original.

My wife wants to leave the rust on it, just spray a mat clear coat on it, and repaint the firewall and dash something else.

Is that a bullet hole in the rear under the window? If there was someone sitting cherry, they caught it right above the ass... Good score on the cab man. If you get around to the old fellas shop, take a camera and get some pic's of his work.

Re: New addition to the family

Roger that Sgt. He should be giving me a call some time. He said that he has a straight axle for me and that I can have a rear bumper that he is just using for mock up on his '50, it's in good shape. He doesn't want anything for them either, he said that I can just have them. Now that's a deal!

I forgot to say, it is a bullet hole in the back.
