Looks great as it is, but it is your truck. Phantom duallies have their place in our society, I just don't know how well I like this style as a phantom dually.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
I like the truck like it is.It's finished so why mess with it.Actually I think you are just looking to do something,so go get another one(you know you want to),you did a good job on that one so you now have the skills to do better.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
get a heavy hauler and do it to that one... 1/2 ton trucks with more than 2 tires on the rear axle is kinda pointless.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
Thanks for all your opinions and nice comments thats what i was looking for I wasnt sure what I had in my head would look good and from your feedback it wouldnt thank you for that before I started cutting. Shes not done yet I just installed all my clear markers and tail lights and still have some shiny stuff for the motor to do a new grill and bumper and larger wheels (18"s and 20"s) and a bit more interior work than she will be done for awhile.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
That's a nice truck. IMO, the phantom dually on that body style needs to be accompanied by a mild roof chop to better proportionalize it. Low and long. I know there are dozens of pics on this forum of the very trucks we're talking about though I don't seem to have a single one saved to my files.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
Google It!!!
theyre pretty sweet. its basically a laid out dually of any cab size, usually 4-door. and the phantom came from in sorts the phantom grille. i think.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
I am against everyone on this one I think tha you should make it a "Phantom" it will be ...Go for it!!! Specially if you dont use dually wheels just one fat ass tire....

Kind of hard to say without actually seeing one first, this looks great but it's ex cab and the fenders would be different. I suppose you'd use step side fenders grafted on you're bed. I've seen that done and it looked good but it wasn't slammed it was a work truck look. I think you could pull it off but it wont look as aerodynamic as the later model trucks ours are a lot squarer and the fenders will be much more pronounced visually. With that single cab and those right angled fenders it may not have the same effect as the later model trucks. Just my opion you have a killer truck right now. |

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
A "Phantom" dually , was just that. It was phantom, or fake. It was a huge trend in the early 90's. You take a C-10 and add dually fenders. Then tuck a big Mickey T tire on a 12-14" wide rim.
Sorry, but it was cool in the 90's, not so much today.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
After lots of input from everybody I think I will hold off on the phantom idea and leave her along for now. There still a bunch of small stuff that I want too do to her. And I have two other projects almost done I should finish up first before I tear into the c-10. Thanks again for all the input.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
when you say phantom dually it sounds more like you want to stuff a skinny drw rear end and keep the stock straight bed.

Re: Considering a major change to my 72' C-10
i was thinking of something else all together.
In some automotive circles, the term phantom means a vehicle that was never produced by the auto maker... like an extended cab daulie 67 - 73. Thats what I thought you were doing. With the term defined now by the O.P. I say no way. Just my opinion, and it is toned down. |
