70 swb bed for sale that I found, is it worth it?

I found a short box fleetside RUST free(not even pinholes), bed floor isn't warped and has minor dent repairs. Also there is no tailgate included. $900 is bottom dollar and 5hr drive to get it. Sorry no pics but just seeing what you guys thought. My original box is pretty rusty and I'm a amatuer bodyman. Think its worth the money and 5hr drive? Just wondering what these are going for in good condition. Thanks for the help

Sounds pretty sweet to me as well. Nice short boxes are getting harder to find.

Re: 70 swb bed for sale that I found, is it worth it?

I think I saw the same bed over east of us 5 hours. If it truely is what it says it is then it would be well worth the $900 and gas money. But in my endless take off and run trips, optimism is usually way higher than reality turns out to be and then I drag things home that I've paid too much for. I've looked at a few locally here in Nebraska lately and I have to say for what the costs are to rebuild a truck these days I would have to lean towards a set of rust free and bondo free repo bedsides and floor and build a nice straight box. They aren't going to get used anymore just looked at anyway. Good luck on your trip. Mark

One thing to remember... rust free to one is not always rust free to another. And the definition of rust free can vary between people as well......

From everything that was posted above, it "sounds" like a decent buy. Any pics?

Re: 70 swb bed for sale that I found, is it worth it?

Ask for lots of pics, especially close ups!!! A 10 hour trip is nothing to sneeze at for a big disappointment. You have 5 hours to drive home pissed

Edit: 5 hours one way, or round trip? Still, I'd hate to be mad for 2.5 hours too

Some people think that if it looks rust free on the outside, people won't care if there's holes underneath!!!

If it is truely as described? For your area, yea, it's worth that.

x2....I have went to look at lots of "rust free" parts only to be sadly disappointed. Peoples opinions vary greatly, and some people just flat out lie about the condition of the parts/ vehicles....
