How much ATF in torque converter?

How much fluid should I put in a rebuilt torque converter?

Usually just dump a quart in it, then slide it on the input shaft. Make sure you get it all the way on. The front of the torque converter should be about 1 1/4" inside the front of the trans to engine surface.

I usually put enough in until it runs out when you hold it horizontal. Some of the bigger ones take a little more, some smaller ones, not so much. Put a little on the outside of the snout where the seal sits too. It'll help keep from tearing the seal when you slide it in.

Not knowing any better - I think I put 3 quarts in the converter of the TH350 before putting it in. A bit slopped out but it was no big deal. Because of the big pan the builder put on the tranny, I put in about 4 more before firing off the new motor for 20 minutes. Took another case of B&M 'Trick Shift' to the transmission shop - when the flat bed picked up the old girl, back in early July.

Hope to see her again...........someday.
