New Member - New Truck
Hello all- I am a new member and the proud new owner of a 1972 c20. My previous classic vehicle experience comes from ownership of a 70 volkswagen beetle and a 72 mercedes benz 250. I also have spent some time under the hood of a 69 mustang and early 80's suburban.
I bought this baby from a friend's father who was the second owner. I spent a cool $2500 on her. She is a 350 with a mild rv cam, HEI, th350 tranny w/cooler and an add a spring in the rear. The paint was recently done and the body shows only a little of the normal rust one would expect to find in the cab corners. When I bought her two weeks ago she had been sitting dormant for about 3 years. The quadrajet had to go... I was not willing to spend the time and money on a 30+ year old carb when I could get a new edelbrock 600 performer matched with an intake for less than 500. Old worn carbs are a complaint I have from my ownership of the benz. That old girl had dual zentih with constant tuning problems. Needless to say, the upgrade made a world of difference. I also dumped some money into the interior. New dash pad, arm rests, door & window rubber, seat cover, heater cables, floor mat and glovebox. Now she looks as fresh as the motor. She also has a spray in bedliner and some other additions that I can't think of right now. I will post some additional photos as I continue to work on her. I am just glad to be back behind the wheel of a classic. |
