Wanted: 3.73 or 4.11 gear set

Anyone out there have a used set of 3.73 or 4.11 gears in good shape that will fit a factory 1971 chevy truck 12 bolt with 3.08 gears. I know i can purchas thru summit/jegs , but looking to save as much $$ as possible. Thanks Shawn

Re: Wanted: 3.73 or 4.11 gear set

What are you looking to spend? I ask because I have a set of NOS 3.73 gears still in the GM box - never had gear dope on them.

PM me if interested as I don't check the parts board that often and may not see your reply.

Re: Wanted: 3.73 or 4.11 gear set

You will need a spacer or a "thick" ring gear set. Your diff is a "series 3" which came with gear ratios up to 3.42:1. Ratio's from 3.73 and up were installed in a "series 4" housing. I have a good used set of 3.73s and a spacer (made by Mr. Gasket). Let me know if you are interested. /Al

I also have a 3:73 gear set, it has some slight wear, but in real good shape. 65.00 plus shipping.

Re: Wanted: 3.73 or 4.11 gear set

Al, you seem to know exactly what will work in my diff. case. What would you let the gear set and spacer go for and what would it cost to ship to 75142?

Re: Wanted: 3.73 or 4.11 gear set

71 burb told you "square"....you need a spacer, or a thick ring to run a 3.73 or 4.10 on a 3 series carrier. The break on the carrier is 2.76?- 3.42 on a 3 series carrier. 4 series goes (factory) 3.73/4.10/4.56, ect. Not to try to step on toes, but personally, I would run a thick ring (3 series 3.73 or 4.10), or opt for a 4 series Eaton posi + gears. Best of luck, crazyAL
