bare cab weight

What does a bare cab weight typically? Trying to figure if I need to swap out my drop springs back to stock to carry a truck cab in my long bed

Re: bare cab weight

With front and rear glass, part of a heater box, and a VIN plate, the scales at my scrap yard said just shy of 500 pounds. Solid floors, rotted corners and inner/outer rockers.

the only uhaul trailer it will fit in is a 6x12 enclosed trailer. they do not one way any other trailer that the cab will fit in.

Lots of times cheaper to rent them at local daily rate...but you have to tow it both directions so fuel mileage comes into play. I have a completely bare cab in my shop and can easily move it around by myself, I would guess it around 300 lbs max. Have seen them hauled in back of these trucks in other threads but they look to be a very tight fit!

I haven't measured, but the 5x7 (assuming this is loading space) should fit the cab sideways, not much smaller than the bed's inner dimensions, just minus the wheel wells. It can sit in a LWB bed, but it makes loading and unloading tricky. I figure that my drop springs are safe to around 600 LBS in the bed (roughly the weight of 30-40 tires that I hauled) with still lots o travel for bigger bumps. Seems I'll be OK with the weight.

It's 18 bux for a 5x7 trailer. I have to fix my trailer wiring hook up, and throw a ball on the bumper, but thats it.

with the bolts poking through the fire wall of a cab it is right at 59" or so sideways. HOWEVER, Uhaul trailers are not measured by inside measurements, they are measured by outside measurements. So their 5x7 trailer is actually only 55" inside measurement.
