5.3 and 6.0 is it a good deal?
I found a guy that is selling some enigines I might be interested in. I just wanted to check with you guys to see if it is a good deal? Or if the year of motor is good or does it mater? What kind of miles would be right for this price
? I will copy his message below. The motor I have runs good so I am not hurting for something right now but at the same time if I can find a deal I want to pick it up so I can get one of these 6.0L in my truck. "2000 Chevy LS1 5.3L or 6.0L Vortec COMPLETE - $895l. I have 2 complete Chevy Vortec 5.3L or 6.0 Engines - includes all the bells and whistles for a drop in package! Includes the wiring harness, Computer, and all the stuff you need to put new life into your project. $895 for the Whole Package!"

Re: 5.3 and 6.0 is it a good deal?
I think the 99 6.0 had cast iron heads I think 2000 had aluminum so you should check that to make sure
I think it is a bit high for the 5.3 as they are so plentiful but probably not that far off I am not sure? What will you do for a tranny? Dave

Re: 5.3 and 6.0 is it a good deal?
Some things sound to good to be true. Not saying this isn't a deal, but be careful. Hell, an LS with the computer and all the stuff with high mileage alone is about $1500 average. And that is for the cheaper ones. They go up in price with lesser mileage. So, the whole kit and kaboodle for $850 sounds fishy. Not trying to sound negative but just be cautious. The 5.3 sounds good for that price, but the 6.0's are usually higher.

Re: 5.3 and 6.0 is it a good deal?
yeah, I'd say that is a good deal.
you might want to figure out what tranny you're planning on running. More than likely the 6.0L came with a 4L80E and the 5.3L came with a 4L60E. The wiring for the two trannies is slightly different (and easily changed) but it's one more thing that will need attention. |
