thanks for the input, all good information. My Tahoe with the 5.3 gets an avg 16MPG with 19ish on the Interstate and has a lot of power.. I expect that this truck will get the same.
For towing the 1500HD does sound like a nice fit,

Yeah it really depends on what you are towing. For average towing, boats, occasional projects the 1/2tons with the 5.3's would work great. In our case we have a 24' gooseneck trailer that we pull once to twice a week with about 10,000lbs on it. So that is why we went with at least a 1500HD.
