Re: Frame welders/fabricators Tx area?

What model of frame?
Why do you need to narrow it?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Guess you were reading/posting as I was reading/posting. It's for my 65 Chevelle. I'm wanting to stuff 20x10's in the rear and I've heard everything from "won't fit" to "tight fit" so I'm prepping for the worst.

I've read about more than one guy mounting up 9.5's (w/the right back-spacing) w/no issues. I imagine the 64-65's are very similar to the g-bodies vs. say 66-77's. My 79 Malibu has had 20x10's mounted w/a minor frame notch (20x10 w/6.00bs) & we didn't need to roll the outer lip. So, w/the right bs, they might fit if the outer lip was rolled under.

What size tire are you considering?

That I don't know. I'd pretty much have to go on what I saw on another car which was a 275. Also "heard" I might be able to squeeze 285 with crossing my fingers. Beyond that, I'd have to rely on what I could either pysically see or just comparing it to something on the internetz.

I remember one set-up was like 17x9.5's, 5.625"bs, CurrieTrac 4CL arms, stock width 65 12-bolt, & 285-40-17's (he rolled his outer lips just to be safe). Try searching pro-touring.com or lateral-g.net.

If you had some thin spacers (.125") & don't mid driving over to Dallas/Garland area, I have some car pattern 15x10 & 20x10's (each w/6.00"bs) sitting around you're welcome to give a shot & see 'what if'.
