Rear-end swap?
I have a 1969 chevy half ton 6 lug rear-end that I would like to change over to 5 lug....I have 72 axles!!
My question is: Can I get away with just switching my axles or do I have to switch the whole rear-end? Any help would be great:-)

You will probably have to switch the whole rear end, but it might be worth pulling an axle out of each rear end and comparing length. The 72 axles are longer than the 69's, but on the outside chance you have a 70 rear end, you may want to check lengths just to be sure.

Check the axle length, or rearend lenth.
It's been posted that there are different lengths. Check with GMC Pauls or Mothertruckers for sure advice.
