heater switch
I got my new heater blower motor in and it works, but when I put the fan switch in the high position motor does not blow. The other settings work fine.
Is this a bad AC relay switch under the dash? I remember reading a past post but I can't find it. Nice to have heat again, starting to get a bit chilly up here in Wisconsin. Also have some good news.....I decided not to sell the Suburban. With my wife going back to school things will be really tight, but I can't get rid of her right now, it is just too nice. I just enjoy working on her to much, and the driving isn't bad either. It was nice to talk with a couple of the guys on this board about it. No I just have to find a place to store her for the winter. Gonna be a long 6 months. |

No help with the switch...but glad you'll be keeping her....Also, glad to chat with you about it!!!...Now get'er covered up before it gets snowed in!!!

There is a good chance the relay is bad or the wires going to the relay have a problem. Here is a picture of the AC unit. The relay is on the right side of the heater box and is mounted upside down.

Thanks for the pix JimKshortstep4x4. I will check out the wiring and get a new switch. Hopefully the local parts store has the switch, if not time to order online!

When mine failed to work on high, it was just the switch... and the local NAPA had one.

the screw that holds it to the box... if memory serves, it is in a steel support or something which grounds it.
The relays also typicly rust apart there due to water since that corner of the cowl is a very common leaky spot. |

I'm starting to think maybe there is supposed to be a ground wire under the screw that mounts the relay maybe...
It's been almost 2 years since I messed with one... but I do know it needs to be grounded or it won't work. |

Longhorn Man is right about the ground wire under one of the mounting screws. You check the ohm reading of the relay to ground to make sure the ground is good.
