Axles Help??

So I'm not having a good day. I bought a 1995 camaro posi this spring to put in my '91 S10. Now I have been under the Impression that GM had used 26 spline axle shafts through '87 or '88 and 28 spline from then on. The '93-'02 F-bodies are also supposed to use 28 spline axles.

The 1995 Camaro posi unit has 28 splines. My 1991 S10 has 26 spline axles. I found this out today after I bought a ring gear spacer. I did not ask the seller what series carrier it was thus the spacer. Can some one help me out here? Did the s10's come with 28 spline axles? Has anyone successfully done what I thought I could do? I am willing to switch the axle shafts if that is possible.

P.S. Today is my birthday too. Nice.

Re: Axles Help??

Yes I tried to do this once, I ended up selling the camaro posi . Unless you get custom made axles. That all depends how much money you want to lay down.

Re: Axles Help??

Mid '88 was the axle spline change for the S10. Maybe they were still using 26 spline in the 4cyl trucks or something. I have 28 spline axles that I removed from a '91 S10 Blazer. And a posi unit from a '99 S10. You should be able to buy the axles at any salvage yard for about $25 each.

Re: Axles Help??

Yep, that makes sense. My truck was a 4 cyl. I have a spare that I will have to check the axles on. Thanks for the help guys. I thought I was losing my mind yesterday.
