Greetings,
New member here and I have a question regarding the grills on a 55 1st series. Will the grill from a 55 1st series GMC fit a 55 1st series Chevy? Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find an answer.

There are several differences, the front portion around the head lights and the inner frnders are different along with the hood, short answer "no". A complete front clip will innrerchange but not just the "parts"

I have done a little more looking for a grille and have decided that a regular 55 1st series grille actually looks pretty good when painted body color.

The front crossmember and core support are quite a bit different too on those.

I'm using a GMC frame for my down to the frame rebuild and will have to change front crossmembers.

Probably gonna take this thread a little different direction, but...
I found a 1955 1st series that has a mustang II snout, no front suspension, no engine, no trans, no bed, a Nova 10-bolt rear end, no grille, no bumpers, no rear fenders. It is basically a 5-window cab on a frame for $400. Worth it? If I get it, I am obviously planning a ground up.

Thoughts?

Did it look like this?
I think you can put a early Chevy front end and either box will fit just a different tailgate.
Is there a crossmember in front of the suspension Mll where the radiator core support bolts to?
The last cab I bought and it was stripped I paid $400 for it and I have a floor kit I paid $300 for so I think you are on the right track. Keep a eye out for fenders rear, and have fun (investing) into it!

I don't remember a crossmember being there for the radiator, but it could have been. The firewall is unmolested and the fenders and hood are on it. They are loose, but they are on it. If I get time I will go get some pics and post them. All the glass is good on it except for the windshield and the vent glass. I can get a bed kit for $1332 that does not include the flooring or the fenders. I actually thought about putting a late model stepside bed on it. As far as the front end, I thought about ditching the Mustang II front and going with a complete FatMan's front. At least that way I would know it's all there. Oh yeah, the floors look really good on it. Looked under it and in it and the floors look really good. Didn't see any rust in the cab corners either...magnet stuck to it but the only real way to tell would be to sandblast. One thing I really like about it is that the doors open and close like new. No struggles at all!
