power steering belt squeal

Another power steering belt question?? After trying 3 different belts, numerous adjustments, I have completely run out of ideas. I know that this is a extremely typical problem with GM's, i.e. I work at a GM dealership, but none of our techs can guide me in the right direction, more parts changers than mechanics nowadays I guess, I would welcome any an all ideas PLEASE!!! Embarrassing as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

Re: power steering belt squeal

Do you have any pics of the setup? They would help.

Re: power steering belt squeal

Power steering pump is full have to occasionally check have a line that seeps over time, besides that everything seems normal. My only thought was possibly the pump shaft maybe bent, yes no????

it seem that If the pump shaft was bent that the pully would wobble, while turning. Do u see that happening, just my 2 cents

Re: power steering belt squeal

Mike, I have an 80 3/4 ton with a 350 with no factory a/c. I have owned this truck for 12 years now and have had that same power steering belt squeal the entire time. Over time I have changed pumps, belts (multiple times) and when ever I lock the steering wheel one way or the other it squeals. I know what you mean about being embarrassing, I just try not to turn the wheel to a locked position. I know this is not much help, but I just wanted to let you know you are not alone.
