AC blower not hard enough

I read this over a year ago on this board but can't find it anymore.

I have a '76 C10 and the blower on the AC does not blow hard enough. I remember someone on this board took a blower motor out of a more current Chevy (possibly late 80's or early 90's) and with little mods made it work in their C10. If I remember right the motor itself fit, they just had to modify the cage.

Does anyone remember reading this? They were able to use this motor and it blew a lot harder like a modern truck, not weak like the older chevy's.

Or if someone has another fix I'd be open to that as well. It just gets too hot in Texas to put up with how little air blows out from my A/C. And mine blows cold. I just had the entire system redone last year!

I think it's the 93-94 full size trucks that have the blower motor you need. I'm in the same boat as you, just haven't gotten around to finding one yet.

Re: AC blower not hard enough

Same with my 87... air is nice and cold but the blower just can't move enough air. Works fine in heat mode though.... since colder air is more dense.

Re: AC blower not hard enough

I have a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora fan (I put them in all my old C3 vettes thats how I came about looking for them) and it just about fit perfect and will blow you back in your seat when you turn it on high (complete exaggeration, I hold no gaurantee that you personally will be blown back into your seat, but it is a big upgrade above the old R12 type fans). I just get the pigtail and wiring with the fan out of the junk yard, they are usually like 35 bucks and get some larger self tapper screws from Lowes and it slides right in, MUCH MUCH better air flow for heat and/or air conditioning, just thought I would share.
