Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
I am about to order alot of misc. parts for my resto and I need to know which place is the best to order parts from. I have the usual suspects catalogs(LMC, Year One, Classic Parts.com) So which one has the best and the most reasonable prices? I have used LMC before, and they made mistakes on my order, but their parts were nice quality. There are local guys with new parts also but they are somewhat higher priced and they dont have everything I need.
THANKS!! |

Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
Well...I have found that no single vendor is the best for everything...In my build, I have used more than a dozen different vendors...for one reason or another....LMC has ridiculous pricing on some parts but are ok on others...Though without doubt LMC has the best catalog...especially the PDF version...it stays on my desktop!...Also, you do have to watch shipping charges carefully....I'll add parts to an order sometimes that I may not need ofr awhile just because there will be no additional shipping charges for them!
My top 4 vendors would probably be: Classic Heartbeat....Wes is Great! Southern Kentucky Classics.... The Truck Shop.... LMC.... Dead last would be my local guy "Grumpy's Truck Parts"......They're name fits them perfect....they SUCK! Also, for what its worth...I try and use original parts whenever possible (REPOP BLOWS)...I buy a lot of parts from a local 67-72 parts guy....he also sells on the board from time to time.... Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
Gene...95% of all parts needed for my frame off came from Board Vendors. You will find them all price competitive but beyond that they honest, friendly, and they know our trucks. Most of them own and drive our trucks...so they our family. I listed a few but there are many more who are just a good to work with:
Classic Heartbeat-WES http://www.classicheartbeat.com/ GMC Pauls-Paul http://www.gmcpauls.com/ Christians Classics-Tim http://www.christiansclassics.com/ I'll let other post their favorite Vendors... Also you can post a WTB (Want to buy) and many times get parts at very good prices also. Good Luck with your build.

Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
I've bought from Wes as well as Kenny's (Oklahoma City area) at a swap meet in our area. I've used LMC one time and found out that their order-takers are just that and the ones I spoke with were of very little help beyond their ability to find what you want when you tell them what page it's on in their catalog. Technical specs were not their strong suit. There's another guy in my hometown who sell parts but he just gets them from another source (LMC, maybe?) and resells them but has saved me some money over what LMC charges and no freight to pay. Plus, I can look at the part before I buy it to see how it looks. Same thing for Kenny's when he's at a show/swap meet.

Just west of you is a fella named Kenny at Kenny's Trucks. I've been buying from him over 15 years. Top notch guy. He has a website and makes all of the swap meets.
I have also had very good dealings with Classic Parts.

Hi snotrod61... I am not sure but if you post a "Where To Buy-stock 16x8 or 16x10 67-72 stock rims" .... you will likely get more answers because of better visibility...Good Luck with your search.

Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
I have spent thousands of dollars with primarily LMC and Classic parts for about three years now. I have discovered the following: You really have to be careful choosing parts in their catalogs. One will have a ridiculous price and the other will have a decent price on the same part. It goes both ways. Another is I once called LMC and I asked to speak to someone in their tech department and the lady said "We don't have a tech department" I have called Classic Parts and they have a very good tech department that answers all my questions. Both LMC and Classic are very prompt on shipping and notify you via e-mail. Lately every time I call Classic Parts with an order I get "Oh that's back ordered" on at least one part. LMC Truck always has the part in stock. I have also found that Classic parts shipping charges are just a little higher than LMC. Once Classic Parts sent me a free baseball cap with their logo on it without my asking. LMC for all the money I have sent them has never given me anything.(Except a catalog) It's so complicated that you really can't say which one is better. Crosscheck the prices and buy from the lowest one even if you have to wait to build up an order. NAPA's prices are higher than either one but their quality is much better. (Plus I can drive 3 miles right to their store and they never charge me shipping if they have to order something) Of course, NAPA doesn't have most of the body and trim parts that Classic and LMC have. One final comment. I have just started dealing with Summit Racing and have so far found them excellent. Their price on the website for a certain MSD HEI dizzy was $143.00 When I called to place the order the lady quoted me $21.00 less. Nice.

Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
For my build I used LMC mostly because they had everything in stock and shipping was free over 1000 dollars even on the truck shipped parts.

Re: Which 67-72 catalog or vendor is the best?
I had ordered from Classicparts for the reason that they had free shipping on orders over 400.00 The order sat in the warehouse while they waited for a back ordered item, after a week I called to check on the paid order that was not suppose to have been taken out of my account till shipped. Well any way when I did get my order I knew I had two items that where backed ordered they left out half of the rest of the order out. I called and they will ship it when the back ordered items come in. So I have items that I can'nt do anything with till the left out items come in. I'm going with LMC I've had good luck with them.
