Trying to ID the year model of brackets

I need assistance confirming the year range for these sbc OE brackets. Are they truck or car specific? Any help would be appreciated as these are what I'm looking for for a project. I need to find some.... the more I know about them, the easier it will make the search.

I will have to look closer at my Alt bracket but I'd say they are the same as the brackets on my '71 Chevy pickup with the 350.

Re: Trying to ID the year model of brackets

If you're talking about the alternator brackets, I have a 70 350 and those are exactly the same brackets that I have and mine are OE.

I'm talking about both the a/c & alternator brackets. I've seen the 'top' alt bracket on many older sbc's. Normally you'll see guys double them up to minimize vibration/flex that was common on the single bracket @ higher rpm's.

I will admit I've never really paid attention to the lower bracket & how it's shaped/looks. Ditto for the a/c set-up. Since I'm shooting for a 60's engine compartment (meaning no aftermarket set-up here), I think these would work well & keep the a/c on the pass side. I would also be able to add pwr steering since it was available too.

I do not want any thing from later years though (where the alt bracket mounts off the pass head/top of the intake) as that's more of the 70's thru early 80's type of brackets.

If you guys could put a pic up to confirm that would be great (I'll take your word regardless ). Do either of you have the same a/c bracket?

71-72 maybe. I have a 74 & have seen under the hood of a 73 so I know those brackets are not 73-77 vintage.

Scoti, they are 69-72 brackets for sure. What parts do you need ? I have a bunch of that stuff.

You can look in my blog to see pictures of the alternator and power steering brackets on my 327.

Hey Tx... I need it all actually. I won't be putting a/c on @ the moment but would like to get everything mocked in place & dropped off @ my favorite powder-coaters () so they're ready when I'm ready.

I also need some 'Chevrolet' script valve covers (w/o grommet holes & w/straight across fastener holes) .

Re: Trying to ID the year model of brackets

I've got all of the power steering and alternator brackets at my shop right now. Power steering pump too. No A/C stuff though. I also have the script valve covers.

You want me to get them out for you ?

Cool, I'll take them off your hands if you don't need them?

Still thinking about the spindles? We could work something out if so as I've got the tires off my steelies w/some initial clean-up done (one of them had fix-a-flat in it so you know what that does). I also have another set of ricer alum wheels needing some coating (friend of my x's). I figured I'd try & get out your way when we could co-ordinate our schedules. Satin blk on all the wheels & brackets....

Re: Trying to ID the year model of brackets

I really need 73-87 drop spindles. I can buy them as cheap as I can buy 4 new ball joints and tie rod ends to go earlier spindles like you have.

I also need a bolt in c notch, a pair of 8 inch 5 lug steelies, any slot mags, whatever. You got any kind of trade stuff ?

How soon you need the brackets coated and done ?

Gotcha. I'm in no extreme hurry but the sooner I can start mocking, the better off I am. I'm @ a stand-still right now waiting on a few items from Porterbuilt. I need them to finish the rear so I've been sorting through cooling upgrades & researching brackets this week.

What's a good timeline for you?

*edit: I just noticed about the swap items that I neglected to address. I don't have anything you're needing but will keep the 'list' in my head as I'm constantly looking for stuff. If I come across the slots, I'm assuming 6's & 8's; w/6-lugs as the preference?

Re: Trying to ID the year model of brackets

6 lug or 5 lug, I have either option.

I can have the brackets cleaned and powdercoated by Thursday at the latest.
