1949 brake and clutch Coversion
Hi I have a 1949 5 window I am working on and wonder what others have used when it came to the brake and clutch pedal assy. The brake system is from a 77 camaro but it seems like the pedal assy. would be short when it comes to the distance from the floor to the center of the pedals. Please share what you used or would suggest .
Thank You For Your Help |

to the forum.
I used an s10 ass. on my '51. It has the clutch and break on it. And for my gas pedal I made my own. Search around in everyone's builds and see what they did also. There is a lot of good info in here, just look around and you will find it.

Re: 1949 brake and clutch Coversion
Good Morning
Gosh just not enough time in the day any more. So I took vacation this week to work on the truck. The s10 pedal set up looks great. Were you able to get the top of the assy. high enough so its not visable. Your picture looks like it is the right height from the floor. Do you know if the s10 vac booster /master cyl . mounting holes will match a 77 camaro master booster pattern. This truck has a Camaro brake system so I am thinking I can avoide some problems with cyl. ratio's if I keep the Camaro stuff. This street rod stuff is great but my backround os race cars so I have to learn the rod stuff. Thank You for your advice Chuck Last edited by Greenbushchuck; 09-08-2009 at 04:53 PM. |

Re: 1949 brake and clutch Coversion
Even if you want to keep the Camaro break system, you can swap out the power booster to an S10 one. That's what I did. I used the S10 booster and the Camaro M/C, because the break lines came out on the engine side and wouldn't hit the inner fender.
