Can't really just polish it...it has primer where the mirrors were replaced with non-factory. Needs some paint! And the box is sunrotted to beat holy h""ll. I have another few weeks of work to do on the nova before i even have time to mess with it...find myself vascillating on it too much right now to make a decision so I'll keep driving it for groceries on weekends until I get a firm opinion...

Re: Which way to go with my 70 CST10 400 resto???

I am not going to answer your A,B,C,D question because it's too subjective. Also it depends how much free money you have laying around. But I will say this. There is something I have discovered called "The Trailer Queen Syndrome" I have owned my truck for 25 years. I bought it in 84 and I paid $1,350 for it. I had gangs of fun driving my old POS truck around hauling cement, gravel, dirt, household items and garbage. Whenever I had a friend that had to move I and my truck were there to help. I never really gave a damn about what it looked like. About 3 years ago for some reason I said I'm gonna fix up my old truck because I just loved it so much and I had it for so long. I now have put about $13,500 into it and I'm still not done and it turns heads where ever I go, "Looky that old truck!" they say and of course I love it. BUT I can't haul anything in it because I got a show quality wood bed in it. I hardly drive it because I have to keep a fancy car cover on it all of the time and it's a pain to take it off because I have to reinstall the radio antenna every time. I can't do any shopping because I have nightmares about somebody banging their door into it. Most of my driving is to local car and truck shows to exhibit it. You see where this is going? If you want a show truck, do the frame off and go wild, but if you want to keep it forever like me, make it comfortable, fix all the broken stuff, paint it the color you want but beware. Don't make it too nice to drive casually or you'll end up like me. BTW, the worst part of this whole thing is that I drive a POS, dented up, bad paint job 96 Toyota Corolla which shows about as much class as a toilet seat. (it does get 37MPG though) Signed--Frustrated in Lake County

Option A lets you retain the most bragging rights, changing the color seems to ruin the bragging rights value to me. Many of drive or have bought good used cars that the color wasn't the best but the vehicle was solid, fresh gold paint looks good, everyone does black. Depending on the condition of the wood, brush on a coat or 2 of boiled lindseed oil, it will take that dry look out.

More pics...still unsure of which way to go but sorta leaning toward a frame-on restore in original color. I like the idea of being not freaking out whenever I hear a rock hit the undercarriage but still having bragging rights of a really honest old truck. By the way...after replacing the valve cover gaskets, she doesn't SEEM to leak a drop. Will document the hell out of the process with vids and pics for my boy when and hopefully IF he decides to sell it.
