What rims would you go with?
I am going to swap my truck over to 5 lug all the way around soon. I have brand new tires that are 265/65/15. I do not want to lower it. What rims do you guys think would look good? I would really appreciate some fellow chevy lovers opinions...............I attached a picture.........

Re: What rims would you go with?
Yea X2 on the rally's, since they have classic good looks. Go with something new, and the cool factor wears off a lot of the times.

Re: What rims would you go with?
I like slots, too, but you'd have to lower the truck or keep it at current height (or lift it) and run all terrain tires. I think that the decision to not lower the truck (but also run a 265/65/15) makes wheel choice much more difficult as many aftermarket wheels only look good on a lowered truck. I am going to lift my 68 C10 and run 31 inch or larger all terrain tires. I think that looks best on a longbed. However, shorbeds look best to me lowered with cool rims. What you want to do is somewhat unconventional. I personally think your truck looks great as is. I would keep the six lugs and run it. I don't see the reason to switch to 5 lugs unless you will also lower it.

Re: What rims would you go with?
The only reason i am going to 5 lug is i am dropping a 406 small block with close to 550+ horses and i need the disk brakes. Number two i already have the stuff to do it. I have attached two sets of rims i like what do you think.
I also like 15x10's. thanks fellas

Re: What rims would you go with?
I am for ralleys also, but you can get them in the wider widths from places like Wheel Vintiques, truck or vette ralleys.

Re: What rims would you go with?
I have always (meaning these will hold their looks not just be short trendy wheels) favored TT-D's, Kidney Beans (Salt Flats through ARE), Corvette Rallyes, and smoothies (although I liked painted rims with the police or baby moon caps, not chrome rims).
Depending on how you feel about copying a period look, you could consider the Impala version of the "Camaro Z28" wheels from the late 80's, or the steel rims used on base trucks from that time...I think they look about as good as the older "musclecar" Rally's usually do on later vehicles. Same goes for Centerlines, Champ 500s, Convo Pros, Cragar S/S, modulars and the like. I tend to put slotted mags in this (period look) category also. I don't think you're into the Lancer/"flipper" look or full-size Moons, since those would go along with whitewalls and ground-dragging height. There's lots of factory take-offs from later years that I think would look good, too--but they tend to not be 15" anymore.

Re: What rims would you go with?
Rallyes would look great. What you have on there now does not look bad either. Besides Rallyes, I like Torque Thrust II's or Hopsters.

Re: What rims would you go with?
what brand are those pro-star looking ones? I've been wanting a set of pro stars for my truck for drag racing, but weld doesn't make them in a 5x5 pattern.
I think you know my vote! |

Re: What rims would you go with?
I agree with some of the others as I like the rallys and TT2's. I have TT2's and I may evenualyy selll them and go with Vette Rallys. By the way...the wheels on your truck look good to me.

As far as wheel choice for the originator of the thread...I like the car syle ralleys with police hub caps....no trim rings and wheels painted to match color of the truck. Honestly it is your truck so why do you care what we think? Heck, put some wood spokes on it if that is what you like...it's yours after all! |

Re: What rims would you go with?
You can get 6 lug disc brake rotors for the front that will likely bolt on to your spindles that you have already acquired for the conversion. Would probably be cheaper than buying new wheels and stronger.

Re: What rims would you go with?
I don`t think rallyes are what you need.I like them for a sporty stockish look and your truck doesn`t have a stock look.Rallyes look best on trucks with trim in factory colors.Your truck would look best with the wheels you showed.I,personally, like the 5-spoke style because they have a more aggressive look. They look better spinning around, too. They just look tougher.they`ll go good with the whole 550 hp theme.

Re: What rims would you go with?
No need to swap to 5-lug... just lower it, add some 6-lug discs up front and add a set of rallys. Plain and simple....
Here's a few shots of mine we did about a month and a half ago: (check out the install in my signature "Blank Slate")
