Rear Springs, Weak?
Greetings,
We are getting close to finishing the body/paint on the 72'. Now the question, we can really move/shake the bed on the truck, and no the bed is not loose. It seems like the rear springs are really weak. Is this normal? Thanks, MrBlue

Have they been heated to lower them? Are the shocks bad? is the panard bar bushing bad? these could cause looseness.

the frames of these trucks twist quite easily, all three of the ones I got will do this when you shake them side to side. If you watch the front of the bed and the rear of the cab while shaking it side to side you can actually see the twisting action there.

Could be really worn panhard rod bushings. Crawl under the truck and watch the bushings while someone shakes the bed from side to side.

40 year old trailing arm bushings 40 year old panhard bar bushings 40 year old springs ? might have some slop there

When you shake it, have someone lie down underneath the truck and see what's really moving. It could the tires flexing as you shake it... or it could be bushings as everyone else stated. Just get under it and start narrowing it down.
