Need to trial fit the bed wood, strips and braces to mark holes etc before appling finish etc to the wood. I have all stainless bolts and nuts, if I use those they tend to lock themselves tight perhaps before I get a chance to disassemble for wood finishing.

Should I put some geniune anti-seize on the bolts and nuts, or would a light coat of oil keep them from sticking for a few days maybe even a week or two ? Thanks.

anti-seize is the correct stuff for SS hardware.

anti-sieze wont help a thing when useing stainless nuts & bolts if you over tighten them. always just snug em down. what happens is it galds the threads because of too much torque. for you mockup i,d use mild steel nuts.

I agree anti sieze is correct for stainless hardware (use them all over my Harley). One of the problems is the never sieze tends to get everywhere (one little dab can get a little on everything you touch).

I would recomend using non stainless for the test fit/assembly and use the stainless with the never sieze upon final assembly IMHO

i think the whole anti sieze thing is way overrated for stainless// at most all i've ever used is a very light coat of white lithium grease// have had no problems take things apart 20-30years later

It's not really the over tighteneing that causes them to gauld nor is it allowing them to set for a period of time. It is that sst material has a tendency to gauld, and when the nuts and bolts are the same material it doubles the problem. If you use mild steel nuts it will not gauld. Then when you go back with the final assy make sure you use anti sieze. To answer your question, yes, oil will work, but still don't tighten them up like an ape or nothing cause there's no need in it. Something better than oil would be grease. Time has nothing to do with gaulding... it's materials and torque pressure. and yeah, anti sieze is nasty and like they said so use it sparingly.

I work for a bolt suppler. The problem with using sst bolts and sst nuts is the heat from tighting them. you would be better off using a steel nut you should be ok on the test fit but I would still take it slow when you assymbly everything. I you get a good grade sst and not the cheap sst taht will also help.
