Re: Window regulator jammed
It could be the gearbox is so dry it won't funtion, in which case one of the toothpaste options may help (LOL), however it's more likely the gearbox is broken, or it could be something in one of the tracks has come loose or broken. I've seen this happen rarely, where a piece of the lower track breaks off and hangs up the lower glass channel.
I don't believe you can buy just the gearbox, it comes as an assembly, either used or new replacement. I don't have a 65 manual, but per the 1960 shop manual which is probably very close - there are 3 steps to replace the regulator. 1. Remove door ventilator assembly, door window glass and door lock remote control mechanism from door as previously directed. 2. Remove 4 screws which attach window regulator mechanism to door inner panel; then disengage regulator idler arm from arm guide channel and remove regulator through opening in door panel. 3. Install regulator assembly through opening in door inner panel and engage regulator idler arm into arm guide channel mounted to inside of door inner panel. Attach regulator assembly to door panel firmly with four screws. If you need more of the details about how to pull all the other stuff listed, send me a pm and I'll send you scans of the pages. |
