Ok you genious frame guys> Is there anyone near memphis that can come help me out or if your really good at talking people through things maybe give me a call???

Here is my issue. 72 GMC 4x4 looks like rear section was back halfed from something?? Front half riveted crossmember was taken out and something more beefy put in its place but wasnt done right and now I have alignment issues. What can I do? Heres a couple pics...

look to me your only off 1/8 in? if thats what your asking??? please clearify the question?

It kinda looks like a steering box repair crossmember. i wouldnt worry about 1/8 th inch. Run it

Its off by about 3/4 of an inch and is pulling by leaf spring over with it. I wish I knew more about frames. I was thinking i could cut the cross member in half and move the one side over 3/4 of an inch and weld a piece in but I have no idea how to make sure the frame is square and what not.

ok i see now your measuring from the other side of the frame. if you cut it you would have to measure from oppisite corners front to back to see if its square.

All the way from the very front to back or could I go from a common center point possibly? This is probably something im gonna have to take the bed and cab off huh?

Get that thing into a collision shop and get it on a frame rack. Any body with experience pulling frames should be able to get it where its needs to be in a few hours. I had a buddy who had basically the same problem with his build (it was in the rear) and they had it fixed in about 3 hours by a competent collision repair facility.

Yeah when a hunting buddy of mine had his shop I would not have heitated to take it to him cause he wouldnt have charged me much if any. But the shop i called today said it was 150$ to start off with if they hang sensors. Theres no telling what it will cost if they have to do more. Im kinda weighing the cost of taking this one to a frame shop. Trying to fix it myself or just starting with a different frame.

Ok well i got bored tonight and decided to see if cutting the crossmember in half would fix it. Well I cut it and it popped back out to where it should be to give me my 3/4 of an inch across but I dont think its fixed. Eyeballing it it still looks crooked as well as measuing from the front rivet on the crossmember going across the middle caddy corner to the front its about a 1/2 an inch off. So it looks like Im frame shopping. Unless anyone has any suggestions. Im not sure even a frame shop would try to straighten it after all the mods that have been done.

I'd recommend to do it right & get a new straight frame that hasn't been modified.
