Question HELP! IDing block casting number

*** Please note I am posting on this forum instead of the Engine and Drivetrain to get a faster response, please move if you must ***

Okay now this guy say he has as big block 402 for sale and has a casting number of 8999280 and I can not find this number listed so I need help on IDing this number.

I cant tell you specifically, but its probably a slightly later model smog motor. The most important aspect of big blocks is the heads. Large oval is the way to go unless you go aftermarket ( I beleive thats 1970-70 1/2 truck heads)

My guess is he read it wrong and it is 3999290. Those casting numbers are tricky to read sometimes. This would make it 68-72 truck 396 or 402, and 70-72 chevelle, camaro, nova block.
