Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
My 63 C20 had an I6, and therefore the lower mount as shown in the pic. Should I move the crossmember fwd and moVe the lower mount pads to the lower holes, or can I use the stock I6 location and just use an aluminum radiator for my 350?

Re: Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
No need to move the crossmember. What is shown in the pic is the location of the mounts for a V8 radiator. I'm not sure why yours is that way when it had a I6. Typically the I6 radiators had the lower mounts on the lower portion of that crossmember. How does your radiator look like? Is it a 2 row or a 3 row? A good 3 row radiator with a shroud should have no problem cooling your 350. Of course the aluminum radiators you mentioned will work good also.

Re: Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
From my searches . . ....
Small I6 = lower mounting on the c.member & small brackets Big I6/V8 = upper mounting on the c.member & larger brackets

Re: Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
It is a C20 and it may have had the larger I6 292, I never did check the numbers. It just seemed like if the mounts were lower you could put a taller(larger) radiator in it, but perhaps with it above the frame rails, you can put in a wider one. I am going to try and find an aluminum one as I will be towing with it and want the best cooing possible. Thanks for the info guys!

Re: Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
Nice link, that looks like the plan, I can probably do something along those lines, in fact my truck will look very similar to his, except for the stance. Thanks again guys!

Re: Converting Lower Radiator Mount for V8
All you need is a V8 upper mount. They are somewhat hard to find, but I eventually got hold of a couple at a swap meet. Most people fab something for an upper mount.
