Did all 66's have reverse lights? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just curious as I'm finding that things aren't matching up quite right with my truck. So far what I'm finding is the rear axle and possibly frame are from a 64, but the VIN on the cab is 66... I read that in 1966 laws required reverse lights on these trucks, but I don't have them.. so is my bed older than 66 also?

It is my understanding that reverse lights were an 'option' on all 60-66 trucks, but federally mandated in 1966. So my answer would be yes (I think) on all 66's.

It could be that your whole truck is from a 64 but the cab. I thought all 65 and 66 had them.

it could be that the backup lights were shaved as well...on my '66 you can clearly see that it had backup lights because someone didn't do a good job shaving...as a result, you can see the circular outline where the lights were
