Re: LS1 Build Questions
He's saying that for a non FI application you want the bigger bore to unshroud the valves and aid cylinder fill. The 5.3/5.7 LS motors both have smaller than 4" bores while 6.0/6.2 motors have bores of 4" and 4.06" respectively.

Re: LS1 Build Questions
I would do a 6.0L, I got a 6.0L rebuilt it back with arp rod and head bolts, used a set of L92 heads and a comp cam. Runs on pump gas and went 11.80's -12.00 in my 68 truck.

Re: LS1 Build Questions
I also know where there is a 408 stroker Iron block for sale. Ported heads, 9.5-1 cr and ready for boost. Comes with almost everything to be turn key.. I was originally thinking of selling my motor and going with it, but decided against it..

Re: LS1 Build Questions
Not yet! LOL. Once I REALLY start putting stuff together I'll set something up.
Billet impeller turbos are pricey - certainly if you need to buy two ! LOL Last edited by Alex1; 09-02-2009 at 12:55 PM. Reason: typo |

Re: LS1 Build Questions
We started to build mild steel ones and then I broke down and bought some 304ss and sourced it out to a guy in the States. I paid like $400.00 to weld 'em up. Pipes, flanges and collectors were like 600 or so and the V bands were a couple hundred bux.
I've got 4340 crank rods, block, dart heads solid roller etc. waiting ,but it's time for the body work to start. Last edited by Alex1; 09-02-2009 at 01:18 PM. |

What turbos are you running? Why billet? Good old BW turbo will do the trick. Mine was $400.

I think the 2" SS was $15 or so a J bend. Flanges were expensive and the colletors were as well I'm looking to make 800rwhp. |

Re: LS1 Build Questions
I love the LS based series of engines. Let me know what you need, I can get most anything you need or point you in the right direction.
I use Advanced Induction for CNC heads and custom cams and I carry a full line of Comp Cams/etc. It may not be on my website but I can get it!!
