I am in need of an original dash speaker in working order for my restoration project. I am going all stock and need a GM speaker that works. Anyone?

You might check Classic Industries or Brother's - I believe they both carry them. I don't know if I'd trust a 40+ year old speaker that probably has been wet at some point in time to last very long, or even sound halfway decent.

Here's what you want to use (I just got one myself)...this guy makes the perfect ones...in the correct style and the correct OHMS....which is very important...

Richard- You might want to contact Classicbowties (Mel). A while back he was having OEM speakers rebuilt by an old-school audio guy. I got one from him and am using it currently with my factory AM/FM. It looks/sounds brand new. Take care.

Here's a little more info...I called them today seeings how they're only 5 miles down the road and I talked with Greg(owner I think)and for $395 he will take a stock AM radio and referb it into a FM/AM unit that will still retain a 100% stock look.He also has a correct size stereo speaker that you use with it.I'll try to get some pics if I have time to run down there this week.

I went down to S&M Electro-Tech and picked up a NEW AM speaker.The speaker has a larger magnet on it that will boost the power of the small 3 amp stock radio.It cost $48 bucks and fit's and looks like a stock GM speaker.You will need a speaker mount bracket,he does not have those.A total AM rebuild will run around $150.and there is a 4-8 week turn around..but this guys work is nice!!So anyone needing a stock speaker don't waste your time with an old one!!!

Thank you everyone! I don't have a stock radio to rebuild. leddzepp, if I locate an original, what does Classicbowties (Mel) charge to refurbish one?

If it's too expensive, I may go with what dan42,cjohns, or RackMan suggest and get a new one with the correct 8OHMS.
